Fair Haven Community Health

CAMA, Inc. was tasked with developing a healing arts program that emphasizes Fair Haven Community Health Care’s mission to provide equitable, high-quality, patient-centered, and culturally responsive care to all they serve. The art program is meant to provide a welcoming embrace to all who pass by or enter through the doors of Fair Haven Community Health Care.
Silvia López Chavez is a Dominican-American artist based in Boston who painted the exterior murals to entice all who pass by the building. Silvia engaged the local community in developing a graphic interpretation of what it means to have a “right to healthcare” at FHCHC. The mural represents the welcoming embrace of the neighborhood and pays homage to local symbols and colors. Silhouettes of gingko leaves, the oldest surviving species of tree, are known for their healing properties and represent strength, resilience, hope, and peace.
