In workshops with patients and family advisors, we often ask participants to imagine a place that offers them respite and relief from the daily pressures of life.  For one participant, this special place was his living room.  He described lounging in his favorite chair and looking out the window at a magnificent view of the forest, where the sunlight seemed to dance on the leaves, delighting his eyes to “seven shades of green.”  When selecting color palettes, designers at CAMA often recall this memorable description to remind us that applying color successfully to any interior environment is more than simply selecting a static paint color.  We look to nature for inspiration, carefully considering how the interplay of color, light, and shadow can please the eye and improve the experience of Life Indoors.

People & Places is a storytelling series that explores the relationship between the spaces we live, learn, work, play, and heal and the people that inhabit them. Contact eoshana@camainc.com for more information.
